The Montecristo Espada Signature Valiente cigar is a special one, being the first Montecristo cigar to be crafted alongside Nestor Plasencia in his factory and released under the Montecristo name which is typically a Dominican brand.
Although it is a puro, it showcases the variety of flavors Nicaragua has to offer in different growing regions. It features Colorado claro wrapper from Jalapa over filler tobaccos from Estelí.
Although the Montecristo Espada Signature features many firsts, it certainly lives up to the high standards the Montecristo and Plasencia brands hold.

Montecristo Espada Signature Flavor
The Montecristo Espada Signature was full of flavor that smoothly delivered all the way through. It starts out with spicy White Pepper, and hints of citrus on the tongue with an overall woodsy, oak flavor.
As you get past the first third, it transitions towards a coffee flavor, with leather left lingering on the back of the tongue.
The Montecristo Espada Signature finished off with a woodsy / grassy flavor and hints of white pepper reappeared at the end.
Draw
The Montecristo Espada Signature had a great draw that didn’t distract from the overall enjoyment of the cigars.
The smoke texture was a little bit on the lighter side, but still evenly coated the mouth and lingered with flavor.
The burn time on this cigar put us at around 2 hours.
Appearance / Construction
The Montecristo Espada Signature has an amazing appearance with a cool rustic color scheme and oily, chocolatey wrapper. It features two main bands, with the classic Montecristo logo, and a gold premium foot band that shines in the light.
It’s built perectly, and had a perfect burn all the way through. The Plasencia factory delivered perfectly as always in this very attractive premium cigar.
